Sassy!! Layout of me versus the photgrapher!!

Most people smile for their pictures at school. I did not. The photographer was annoying me while he was just doing his job of trying to get me to smile. So I showed him! He took the picture anyway and more importantly my mother bought the package and gave out the pictures. My Grandfather always liked this picture. Even at a young age I was showing my attitude.

I used paper from K & Company. It is from their collection entitled Wild Saffron. I bought the 12 x 12 paper pad at Goodwill for less than $3.00. Then I found the matching Tags on eBay. I fussy cut the flowers out of one sheet. I used an xacto knife to cut the grid paper from the background edge around it. I used pigment ink to ink the "fake fold" on the bottom and actually folded it more to enhance the crease. Then I created one on the top right corner!

Graduation Milestones Layout

I have always wanted to have my pictures of me graduating in a layout. The first picture is one taken by my father with his Polaroid camera. It is of me in my kindergarten cap and gown. The next picture is of the posed graduation picture taken at school. I don't think I have one of me in my cap and gown. The third picture is of my college graduation. I didn't immediately go to college out of high school so this picture is more poignant since I didn't go to college until I was in my 30's and it took about a decade for me to get my degree. Part of that time I was taking sign language prep classes for the degree I thought I wanted but sort of failed out of the program so I switched gears and stayed with a focus in deafness but a totally different field!

I fussy cut the flowers from the 12 x 12 paper. The yellow embossed paper with the Graduation words on it was white but I inked it with chalk pigment ink to match the other elements on the page.

CSI, colors, stories, inspiration case #10

I redid an 8.5 x 11 LO that I originally made about 10 years ago!! I never did like the black & white photo on the dark red background because it always looked disjointed. I felt the page needed more so I updated it using the colors and items for the evidence for the csi case #10!

This time I used some of my Anna Griffin paper from 2001! For the evidence I used a metal book plate that I altered using paint and ink. I also included a bronze colored metal flower. For the fabric portion of the evidence I used a silver-bluish tulle in the pink heart and a gold self-tasseling cord and a dark green ribbon at the bottom of the page.

To solve my dilemma of having a black and white photo on a dark red background I changed it's color by using Tim Holtz Tattered Pink ink making the photo have a pinkish hue to join the pink and red hues on the page.

Here are the before and after pix:
I originally made this page for my mother's family album. I kinda never liked it and felt the picture deserved something more....years later I think I did a much better job!

The page redone years later! Big improvement!!

My Father's Parents--Love The Colors!

I made a 12 x 12 layout of my grandparents on my father's side of my family. I used orange and green patterned papers and just love the look!

I had a large die cut flower that I used as a template and hand cut patterned papers to give the flower dimension and used a pre-made flower and rhinestone brad for the center.

My Mother's Parents--Shabby Chic Vintage Style

I haven't posted anything in a while because I had lost my mojo. I've been organizing my scrapbook room and all of my hard copy pictures. One day I finally got the bug to create a new page. I used a picture of my mother's parents and created a heritage page for her book that I started years ago. It is 8 1/2 x 11 format because I wanted an easy album for people to look at.

I used some old Daisy D's paper and some patterned paper from Hot Off The Press #3235. I made the flower from paper (flower with black rhinestone brad center).
My shabby chic page for my mother's scrap book. I never met my grandmother, she died before I was born. My Grandfather was killed when I was two years old.

I made the flower with the black rhinestone. The Chip board die cut was painted and inked to match the colors and I used a pencil to enhance the flower detail.

I've had the crochet paper for years...I mean years. I inked it in areas to give it dimension and blend with the palette. I love the ivory ribbon and I love the green ribbon I placed on top of it.

Procrastination!!

I haven't blogged in a long while. As usual I start something and lose interest or intend to get back to it and procrastinate!

I am going to take pictures of a few scrapbook albums I have and post them here. I am also going to post the current projects I have completed within the last few months.

I had to buy a new Fiskars paper trimmer. Mine kept cutting crooked and was old and heavy and cumbersome to use so I bought a new one with a coupon.

I have a lot of new embellishments and paper thanks to my friend Shelly!

Purple and Green Romantic Page

I spent a week on the original version of this page. I had originally wanted a gray border from my stash along with the purple patterned paper but every time I came back to it it didn't seem right! So I started over using this green patterned paper around the edge. I hand made the paper flowers. This page turned out exactly how I was hoping it would.
